Primatology was my initial entry into anthropology. Work has included studies of language-competent bonobos and human-ape interactions in the San Diego Zoo. I have a special affinity for bonobos.

I'm engaged in a collaborative research project in Panama focusing on folk festivals, tourism and the reasons for and obstacles to smaller towns attracting attract tourists. Tourism has economic, cultural, and environmental implications that anthropology is specifically suited to entangle.
